St Johns Tattooery

My long time friend Johnny called me up the other week "Hey I am doing a Twilight Zone themed shoot for the shop, want to help?"

Hell yes I do.

Our influence for this shoot came from the episode Will The Real Martian Please Stand Up. I showed up about 2:30 and the makeup artists Matt and Bianca where already hard at working applying third eyes to Johnny and his crew. Eight fake eyes all together!

I wanted to run with the Twilight Zone theme and so something  a little creepy and a bit humorous, I came up with doing a doctors office type shot with the "patient" looking up at his company.

I actually prefer this version of it! The eyes are fun, but it is a bit distracting having three of them to look at. I kept the shot tight by only including the tattoo artists, sorry apprentices.

Following my concept shot I played with the ambient light that was available to me for a few more shots (and a 580EX flash for the color image).

This last one is my favorite shot of the ambient ones.

If you are wondering where the images of the others are at ... we had another photographer for those. Brian Lee handled most of the traditional portraits.

Tech Geek info? The studio shot was lit with 2 alien bee 800 watt strobes, shot with a canon 5D with a 15mm lens. ISO was 50. Ambient shots were with a Canon 1DMKII at 3200 ISO shot with a 24-70 2.8. All editing was done in photo shop.
