Le Face & Dva Dammas @ the prospector

I posted a few of these to Facebook (www.facebook.com/jamesandrewphoto) but completely forgot to post them to here. These are a couple of weeks old now and were taken at the Prospector in Long Beach on 7th.

I saw the Dva Dammas for the first time at the Crosby in Santa Ana and did not bring my camera not expecting much, silly decision, cause Dva Dammas were pretty damn cool. Sometimes though, its really nice to just enjoy the shows.



Aside from playing, they were in charge of the records as well.

Ive probably photographed Le Face more times than ... pretty much anyone. I keep trying to just go and enjoy the show without the camera, but I can't help it but photograph :/

the next day I went out to Pasadena for their swap meet they have once a month. Its pretty much the best swap meet ever, its amazing. So much useless crap that you want to take home. Aaron and I rode back from Pasadena that evening, very long ride ... something like 60 miles ... + it was starting to rain, + we were taking our sweet time having a couple drinks in the process.









It was pretty beautiful out, and was a really nice ride until Aaron got his 3rd flat and I got my first. I rode the remaining 15ish miles from Whittier to Anaheim on the flat. So not fun. Saw the Angry Somoans at Juke Joint that night ...

Havn't been around much lately, lets just blame work and school.

The Bad Pad called my name the other night, this night is also known as Friday, unless it was Saturday .. it could have been either. Anyways. I ended up in Long Beach at Orions, and after a couple of drinks we walked down to the Bad Pad a few blocks down on 7th. We walked in with a band called Vum playing.




singer/guitarist and a keyboard. They have kinda a spooky slow tempo thing going ... I know, not the best way to describe music ...





I got their album "strange attractor" on cd and have listened to it a couple of times .. I definitly dig.

I think I have seen them more than Le Face now.

Halfway through their set, this guy barges out of his room going after another guy. "your not welcome here, get out" blah blah blah. I take a few photos and kinda get in the middle a little bit. I don't know either of them, I just don't like seeing stuff, and its not like the other guy was being offensive or anything.



so that was the end of that, and gestapo kept playing.







and then outta nowhere, the guys gf comes out of his room, bearing a god damned axe.



Ok, so its not a real axe, but it is a real hatchet! A little intimidating.

Being who I am, I take a few pictures, and kinda try to get her to put the axe away, she does put it away.



but first she swings it in my vicinity, I move ... and the axe goes into a wall. She wasn't REALLY trying to hit anyone with the axe ... its really just an intimidation device ... and worked, the other guy left. Ends up, she thought I was friends with the other guy. I wasn't friends with either of them, I had no idea who the hell either of them were.



A couple of minutes after the axe incident. The rest of the evening was axe free.





1 part Le Face, 2 parts gestapo Khazi = ?? I am not sure ... but this is their experiment of a band.



as it turns out, the other guy, lives there too. In the front house, and not the back. Random. He shared his bourbon.





Thats were I'm going to end it. I went to bed on Orions couch shortly after, and these guys were probably up all night.

Geek talk time. The lighting to this show was SOOO much better than it has been in previous shows, they actually did a lighting test and partial rehearsal on the actual stage prior to the real event, something they hadn't done before, and the lighting was actually goood!! I was actually able to shoot at 1600 ISO at f4 (!!) and NOT under expose! Previously I have had to use the flash as a fill for 90% of the live shots, shooting at 3200ISO at f2.8. They had a few new girls this time, which was pretty cool. They had to get used to me pretty quick, which they more or less did. They did not really have much of a choice. There were none of the technical issues of the 1st galaxy show, and the show itself had just as lofty of goals. Check them out next month, same place. Was this two hundred words? I hope so ... google requires at least two hundred words in a blog before it will cease to count it as spam in peoples search filters ... kinda feels like about two hundred give or take something. Not that I am good at estimating word count or anything, but I really don't wnat to count them ... DAMN. Maybe I should just hit enter and be done with it? Or continue to ramble about the nonsense of nonsense? Meh. Enter it is.
